Fairy Tales Freebie

So I'm continuing on with my Fairy Tales unit and I think I've figured out how to share my freebie. We will see I guess. If you would like a copy of the Story Elements chart we made comparing three different versions of the Cinderella stories, please click here. I have not, however, figured out how to show a little thumbnail of the document so you can decide ahead of time if you want it. I will work on that next.

So how many more days for you guys? We are down to 12!! I can't believe it! I mean, last year we didn't get out until June 7th, so this is like a dream! We had about 87 snow days last year.  Once I became a mom, though, my summers were a little more tiring joyful since I now get to spend this time with my own children. I am lucky enough to be able to to ship my kids off enhance my children's social experiences a couple of days a week with Mom's Day Out and such. I am kidding. I really do love my summers with my kids. It makes it much harder to go back in August, though, when I don't get to spend as much time with my own kids. My oldest son will be starting Kindergarten at my school in the fall which will be great, I hope. It was one of those decisions my husband and I had to make since we don't live in the district where I teach. My son is quite.....ummmm.....a mama's boy, you could say. Like so much that he holds on to my leg and will not answer people when they speak to him because his face is buried in my clothes. I'm not sure him coming to my school will be a smooth transition but I do think it is the best option for him. He seems to know that he will not be able to cling to my leg once he starts kindergarten. That doesn't mean there won't be crying. From both of us. :)

Please let me know if you were able to download the freebie and if it is something you can use. And anything else you want me to know!

Thanks for coming!

Fairy Tales

Hi, 8 followers! I'm so excited that you all are here and my, you all are such a helpful bunch! I love it! I'm learning as I go. My latest question is how do you all get those cute banners at the top where your blog name is? I have a friend trying to help me, but I wondered if it was something I could do myself?!

We have been studying fairy tales the past few weeks in my room and I thought I'd share some of that with you. Most all the things I've done, I've completely borrowed (stolen) from other blogs I've stalked and gotten from pinterest. You can link up to my pinterest page here and see many of these things first hand. (Aren't you impressed with my link?)

We started by reading and studying Cinderella. We use the Common Core units in my district and our last language arts unit is "Around the World in a Glass Slipper." it focuses on many Cinderella stories from around the world and works well to incorporate our Social Studies standards: knowing the continents and oceans. I read the traditional story first.
We discussed all the story elements and focused on characters, the good characters and the villain. We made a chart with the story elements from this book, as well as some of the other Cinderella stories I read,

 and   .
The students loved hearing the different stories and comparing their story elements. They also wrote about their favorite version of the story.
Now, I have the notetaking page we used, but I'm not sure how to put it on here. Do any of y'all wanna help me out here?! I appreciate you!!!

Does it have to be dirt?!?!?

Well, it was one of those days. My BFF/teaching partner was out of town at a conference so unfortunately for her, she was unable to listen to my witty comments all day. Since I kept to myself in the morning and got some teaching done, I decided to reward myself in the afternoon with this heavenly goodness:

I mean, can you believe this. If you're wondering, yes, this is an  oreo with a chocolate chip cookie wrapped around it and then baked. How dare that student's mother create such a sinful treat! I was actually happy to take it off her hands. And yes, if you're wondering, she is one of those moms that you can gladly accept treats from. Not one of those that you know, you have to throw it away before you accidentally throw up in your mouth!
Anyway! After having such a great treat, I decided to do about 3 extra hours of cardio to get rid of those calories. Or, maybe I just watched my babies try and burn those calories off for me. I greatly appreciate their effort. I wish it worked that way! Babies?! you're saying in your head? Yes, I have twin boys, almost 16 months old. I also have a 5 year old boy but he decided he needed some technology credit in the afternoon and he decided to play a little baseball on the Wii!!  So, getting back to the babies trying so hard to help their momma out. They apparently burned many calories! So many calories that one decided he needed some fuel from his favorite go to source: dirt. The kid eats it any chance he gets. It. Makes. Me. Crazy. I am, kind of, how do I put this nicely...a GERMAPHOBE!!! And that kid thinks one of the funniest things on earth is to see his momma freak out when he puts dirt in his mouth. But then, how do I scold him?

I mean, would you scold that little dirt eater? Oh well, what're ya gonna do. I took the babies inside, where we played some more and Brayden ate his second favorite energy source: dog food. Oh, good golly, I feel the hairs turning gray as we speak!
I hope you visit again soon!!!

Helllloooooooo out there!!!!

Helllloooooo out there!!! I am alive and coming back! I don't have a lot to say tonight, but as I've been blog stalking, I'm learning that doesn't really matter! Ha! I got a little discouraged because I still don't know as much about this blogging thing as I want. I keep suggesting a blogging class for our next PD but I have not gotten much response to that! Imagine. Learning about something that is current and interesting!!! My district is even into blocking certain, inappropriate websites on our server. Such as, FACEBOOK. Well, I can kind of understand that, although I really want to start a classroom page that my students' parents can be a part of, but oh well.  The other day, though, Pinterest was blocked! Are you serious!!! I get all of my cute teaching ideas from Pinterest because my brain just does not think cute. I wish it did. But it just doesn't.  So I have to depend on all you other cute people to supply the idea, then I can tweak it to make it my own. Thank you, cute people.  I appreciate you. Luckily, after several freakouts! comments were made, the problem was fixed and Pinterest is back!  Thanks again to all you cute people whom I can steal ideas from.
I promise to be back soon! I hope I can hear from some of you! Send me a cute idea you are doing in your classroom right now!
